Hainan Meilan International Airport (HMIA) is located Southeast of Haikou, the
Capital city of Hainan Province, . The airport is 25 kilometers from downtown
Haikou and was officially opened on the 25th May 1999.
On 18th Nov, 2002, with 470 million Yuan of registered capital, "Hainan Meilan
International Airport Co.; Ltd" was listed for transactions on the Stock
Exchange of Hong Kong (SEHK). Major shareholders are including Haikou Meilan
international Ltd; Copenhagen Airport A/S; Hainan Airline joint-stock limited
company and HNA Group Ltd.
Presently, HMIA runs both aeronautical business and non-aeronautical business.
The aeronautical business includes the provision providing grounding services
for airlines and passengers. Non-aeronautical business includes the leasing of
commercial and aviation business spaces within the terminal building; operating
the parking lot and retail shops with both duty free and non-duty free products
and selling advertisement spaces inside and outside the terminal.
As a trunk-line of domestic airport, HMIA is covering an area of 583 hectares.
The flight areas facilities meet the 4E standards as required by the
International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and is designed to service the
landing requirement of large aircrafts, such as: Boeing 747-400. Additionally,
auxiliary facilities, including parking apron and services infrastructure, also
meet the requirement of international level.
With six years continued growth, HMIA has served 7.02 million passengers in
2005 and become the top 10 largest airport within China. Direct connections are
available from Meilan Airport to 95 destinations, 84 of which are in , two are
in the regional cities of HK and Macau , and nine are in international
destinations.
In order to meet the requirements of an increasing number of airlines and
passengers from all around the world, HMIA phase two terminal expansions has
completed construction by the end of 2005. Terminal cover an area of 102,000 M2
and have the capacity to serve 9.3 million passengers, as well as 135 thousand
tons of cargo &mail at present.
As the " Garden Airport " in , HMIA has allocated 99.6% of its area to a green
belt and this gives the environment of the airport a fresh green and enjoyable
appeal to passengers and visitors using the airport.
HMIA is dedicating to improve hardware facilities, as well as to enhance the
services standard in all the relevant sectors. From 2002 to 2004, the airport
has been successively granted the first prize in "Passenger Evaluation
Campaign" for airports with 4-10 million passengers organized by CAAC. In April
2005, HMIA became the 4th airport in to be awarded " International Sanitary
Airport " by World Health Organization (WHO).
Since Hainan Province was granted the trail of "Open Sky Policy" on 24th March
2003 by General CAAC, HMIA has become the first Chinese airport to receive 3rd;
4th and 5th traffic rights. With further developments in the "Open Sky Policy"
implemented and this high recognition by international organizations, HMIA has
the potential to become the international aviation hub of Southern China.

Hainan Meilan International Airport (HMIA), China Southern Airlines (CSA) and
Hainan Airlines (HNA) provide full scale passenger and aircraft handling.
Marshalling, bussing, operation of boarding bridges etc is provided by HMIA.

ATC is provided by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC).
Aircraft Maintenance
Aircraft maintenance facilities is provided by CSA and HNA for a range of
aircraft including B737, B757, B767, B777, A319-A321, A310, A300, MD80/90.
Cargo
Full scale cargo service is provided by HMIA and Hainan Airlines Cargo.
Catering
Catering service is provided by HNA Air Catering Co.
Fuel
Fuel service is provided by Hainan Meiya Enterprise Co. All stands are equipped
with fuel hydrants.
Executives
Mr. Zhang Cong, aged 48,
was appointed as Executive Director and Chairman Of the company in January
2006. He became the chairman of the supervisory committee in December 2000, is
responsible for the administration and business policy issues. He graduated
from the China Civil Aviation Institution in 1990 and teaches at the
institution after graduation, he had been to and take advanced studies in 1984
and 1992 respectively. From May 1997 to November 2005, he worked in the
personnel department of Hainan Airlines Company Limited, in turn, as the
general manager's assistant, deputy general manager and the general manager of
the department. Thereafter, Mr. Zhang Cong had taken on the positions as the
general manager of the project development and management department and the
senior assistant to the chief executive officer in HNA Group Company Limited.
Mr. Dong Zhanbin, aged 55,
graduated from Party Cadet College of Guangxi Autonomous Region in 1986
majoring in politics, was appointed as vice president of the company. From 1970
to1989, Mr. Dong served as the associate director of Control Center of CAAC
Guangzhou Administration. He became the chief of Flight Operation Division and
the head of Air Traffic Control Center of CAAC Guangxi Administration in 1989,
and was then promoted to deputy general director of CAAC Hainan Administration
in 1994. Since August 1998, Mr. Dong Zhanbin has held a number of senior
management positions including the vice general manager of Haikou Meilan
Airport Co., Ltd., the vice executive president of HNA Airport Group, and the
general manager, the vice chairman and the chairman of Yichang Three Gorges
Airport Co., Ltd. Mr. Dong has accumulated over 30 years of experience in the
management and administration of civil aviation industry.
Mr. Hu Wentai, aged 52, was
appointed as vice president of the company in July 2007, Mr.Hu graduated from
the Navy Institute of Logistic with a diploma, has rich experience in the
military and civil aviation management. He served as the deputy general manager
of the Company in December 2000 and was re-appointed in January 2004.He was
appointed as Chief Operation Officer of the Company in July 2004, is rich in
aviation and airport management experience.
Mr. Wei Chang Rong, aged
48, was appointed as Vice President of the Company in July 2007. Mr. Wei
graduated from No. 16 Aviation Institute of China Liberation Army Air Force
with a degree in Aviation,is rich in aviation management and flight experience.
From June 1933 onwards,He is a pilot and was taken on the positions as the and
the General Manager of Operation Support Department and Cabin and Ground
Service Department in Hainan Airlines Co., Ltd, the deputy general manager and
the Chief Human resource Officer of the HMIA.
Mr. Qiu Guo Liang, aged 32,
graduated from Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics majoring in
dispatch with the FAA licenses, Mr. Qiu was appointed as vice president of the
company in July 2007. He has held positions as the manager assistant of the
Operation Command Center and flight plan office in Hainan Airlines Co., Ltd.,
the deputy director and the deputy manager of the operation control center in
Hainan Airlines Co., Ltd., the manager of the HMIA control center, Assistant to
Chief Operating Officer of the HMIA, who is rich in civil aviation management
experience.
